Sarah Epstein is an Australian author, illustrator and designer who grew up in suburban Sydney and now lives in Melbourne with her husband, two sons and a rescued dog called Luna. She spent her childhood drawing, daydreaming and cobbling together picture books at the kitchen table. A creative all-rounder, Sarah achieved her design degree from the University of Western Sydney and embarked on a 25-year graphic design career before returning to her first loves of writing and illustrating.

Sarah’s illustration style combines hand-drawn sketches with digital colouring and collage, focusing on bright colours, humour and a sense of fun. Sarah is a SCBWI member, a former admin of the 52-week Illustration Challenge and a current admin of The Illustration Station. She also writes young adult fiction, and her novels have been shortlisted for numerous literary awards (she’s even won a few!). Her debut novel Small Spaces (2018, Walker Books) is a CBCA Honour Book and has been optioned for film by Triptych Pictures.
